For me, taking criticism (even if its constructive criticism) is very difficult, as I am such a perfectionist.
At the moment in the fuel industry, everyone is under pressure because of the high demand for fuel post price decrease; and by everyone I am definitely including myself.
When my boss mentioned something to me regarding changing the way I do one part of my job, I immediately took it personally.
Another motto of mine: Never let them see you bleed!
So, I actually upped and went to my corner store, The Zenith Cafe, holding back tears.
When I returned, with my comforting lollipops, he called me and asked if I was ok. I replied that I needed to compose myself…
Anyway, to cut a long story short, the conversation continued, and he eventually got it out of me what was wrong.
I let it out, and, because I was over emotional, and, needless to say, it came out all wrong.
It ended with me, again, almost in tears…like a small child 🙂
So, this post, by Dan Rockwell of Leadership Freak, is spot on for me today!
Thank you Lord! You are so good!
Confidence when criticized:
Confidence is a product of knowing what to do next.
