Yesterday I traveled a 60 kilometres inland to an area called Peacevale, near Ichanga.
We had thunder showers on and off the whole trip.
Just before arriving at the destination for a potjie, (chicken & veg potjie – delicious), I saw a frog hopping across the road.
Just behind the toad, I saw a snake trailing, hunting the toad.
I slammed on brakes, jumped out the car, maintaining a safe distance of about 1 meter, and took photos.
Apparently this snake is off the adder family, namely a Night Adder
The storm was hectic, but beautiful. Sitting under the overhang, with a potjie, in the pouring rain, mists enshrouding the mountains…
Every now and again the sun would come out; and at dusk, the clouds peeled away, blessing us with an awesome sunset!
