On 14 February 2014, I tried to feed my Hairyback Tarantula, Champignon, this friendly looking large locust
I know she sheds her skin in February, but has not as yet, so I thought to feed her a last meal beforehand.
She checked it out, climbed to the top of the tank for a closer look
The locust must have got a fright, because he fell to the bottom of the tank.
And she would have NONE of it. I know it was Valentines Day, but c’mon, really?
They sat next to each other until I went to bed that evening.
On the morning of 16 February 2014, she shed her skin
It is a perfect shed
It is normally in 2 pieces
This is the 4th shed I have had with Champignon
I should have another 30 sheds or so, 1 per annum
Female hairbybacks live for up to 40 years
Eyes, hair, all in tact.
And she is all clean and fresh again, I have a snack for her in the corner, a cockroach
The cockroach watched the whole shed as I put him in the tank last night
